Reconsidering Video Games

Video Games Vindicated

Well-designed games like Portal are proof positive that the medium can:

  • deliver a meaningful learning experience,
  • catapult an audience to the highest levels of domain literacy, and
  • tie into related semiotic domains.

Portal may be “just” a game, but as James Paul Gee would point out, it speaks volumes about the machinery of the human mind and the very nature of how we think and learn.
